Arrest Made in Brazen May Shooting That Killed 4-Year-Old Girl, Wounded 2 Other Children & Their Parents

A Texas man has been arrested and charged with capital murder for a shooting in May that killed a 4-year-old girl and injured four other members of her family, including two other children.

Israel Perales, 20, has also been charged with aggravated assault-mass shooting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of injury to a child.

The incident took place just after 7:30 p.m. on May 8 in northeast Bexar County when two men got out of a vehicle, ran up to a townhome, and opened fire with dozens of shots, KSAT reported.

MaryAnn Marble was pronounced dead at the scene from a shot to the head, KENS said.

A 7-year-old boy was hit in the arm and abdomen, and his 8-year-old brother was hit in the knee. The children’s parents were also shot, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

The shooting was captured on surveillance footage.

In the course of the investigation, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said at least four people were involved in the shooting and released photos and videos of the two men who participated directly.

The sheriff said Perales was identified as a primary suspect by tip through San Antonio Crime Stoppers, according to KSAT.

After investigators had tracked his cell phone to Calaveras Lake, dive teams searched the waters on Monday and found a Draco AK-47 — the same style weapon as used in the may shooting — in five feet of water in the lake.

When tested, the weapon matched ballistics of shell casings found at the crime scene.

Investigators have made two other arrests in the case — Bryan Salazar, who was charged with tampering with evidence and has been released on bond to house arrest, and Ashton Garcia, who turned himself in and may be connected with the shooting.

“There will be other arrests in this case,” said Salazar.

Salazar said anyone with more information regarding this case can contact BCSO at 210-335-6000.
