Teen Walmart Employee Who Died in Walk-In Oven Was Discovered by Mom

A woman who died in a walk-in oven at a Canadian Walmart on Saturday was discovered by her mother, according to reports.

The CBC reported that Gursimran Kaur, a Walmart employee, died in the store’s bakery department in Halifax. Kaur’s mother, who works at the same Walmart, grew concerned when she did not answer her phone.

A GoFundMe page stated that Kaur’s mother found her body.

“She reached out to the onsite admin for help. As you all know now, her charred remains were found inside the walk-in oven in the bakery after a few hours,” the page said.

Kaur’s cause and manner of death are pending. Earlier this week, the Labor Department said a stop-work order was issued for the bakery and “one piece of equipment” at the store.

The CBC reported that the Halifax Walmart remains closed as the investigation continues.
