A Florida man was arrested earlier this month after a woman made a 911 call and pretended to “order a pizza” until the dispatcher understood she was about to be raped.
The pizza call came in to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office at about 3:45 a.m. on October 19. The dispatcher asked further questions to determine she was in danger. The woman did not know where she was, but investigators tracked the phone to a field in Pierson and arrived to find the suspect, identified as Luis Hernandez-Moncayo, on top of the woman as she was screaming for help.
Speaking with deputies later, the woman said she knew the suspect and that they had been out drinking together. But he turned violent after doing cocaine. She said he assaulted her multiple times, including choking her.
Hernandez-Moncayo, 27, has been charged with battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and attempted sexual battery. The sheriff’s office said he applied for asylum the day before the incident.
