An Arizona man was arrested on Friday after his father’s body was allegedly discovered in his freezer.
Joseph Hill Jr., 51, reportedly stowed his father’s skeletal remains in a backyard freezer at his Tempe home. According to KPNX, he allegedly admitted to wrapping his father’s body in a blanket and hiding it in the stand-up freezer four years earlier.
After allegedly refusing to let police look in the freezer, Hill explained that he never reported his father’s death because he was not on the deed and did not want to lose the home. He also claimed that he planned to bury his father in the desert but there were too many people around, KPNX reported.
Residents told KTVX that Hill’s home caught fire last year, and the house had been undergoing construction when the remains were discovered. Neighbors told KPNX that the home had been vacant for a year.
Police responded to the home on Tuesday following a tip. The remains have not yet been positively identified as Hill’s father.
Despite this, Hill was charged with concealment of a body and failure to report death.
