A Mississippi man has been charged with murder after his wife was found dead in her vehicle, which had crashed into a building.
Zikoya Johnson Echols, 36, was inside her car when Hattiesburg Police responded to the crash site Saturday morning at about 10 a.m. Echols, apparently behind the wheel, was pronounced dead at the scene, WDAM reported.
Investigators found she had a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
On Sunday, Echols’ husband, Kenrod Cartez Echols, called police and admitted he shot his wife, Magnolia State Live reported.
He has been charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and malicious mischief. He’s being held without bond, jail records show.
