A mother and her two children intentionally went over Niagara Falls Monday night.
New York State Police said the incident took place at about 9 p.m. Chianti Means, 33; Roman Rossman, 9; and Mecca Means, 5-months, went over the guard rail on Luna Island, attached to Goat Island, and from there over the falls.
“The investigation determined that this incident was intentional in nature, though the circumstances remain under investigation,” the agency said.
Park Police and State Police conducted a search and rescue “with negative results.”
Luna Island is a small island just off Goat Island at the top of American Falls. The family was from Niagara Falls, New York.
