A 7-year-old Philadelphia girl was shot dead in her home in the city’s northern Juniata Park neighborhood on Sunday.
Police were called to the home shortly before 2:30 p.m. and found the girl with a gunshot to the face. She was rushed to Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children but was pronounced dead less than 15 minutes later, WPVI reported.
As @PhillyPolice continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the firearm discharge, I want to urge Philadelphians who possess a gun to do two things right now.

Two adults and two other children were at the home at the time of the shooting, and police said they recovered a firearm at the home.
Investigators have not released any information at all about the shooting, other than to say family members are being questioned.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker called the incident an “accidental shooting” and a “terrible tragedy” in posts on Twitter.com. She urged gun owners to secure their firearms “particularly when a child or children are present” and to get a free gun lock from law enforcement.
