Detectives in Florida are seeking a murder warrant for an Orange County man for the death of his girlfriend, whose body was found last week in Georgia.
Jorge Javier Quintero, 41, was located in Alabama, where he got into a confrontation with the US Marshals Service and was shot. He was hospitalized in critical condition as of Monday, the Orlando Sentinel said.
The entire incident began on October 29 when Quintero’s relatives requested a welfare check because he had made suicidal statements. Responding deputies did not find him or his 29-year-old girlfriend, Carmen Elsa Escalante Carrera.
Investigators learned that Quintero had rented a pickup truck and tracked him to Saraland, a suburb of Mobile, Alabama, on Thursday, WALA reported. He was located in a shopping center parking lot there, where a shootout ensued.
Hours after the shootout, authorities somewhere in Georgia found an “object” they suspected had a body inside. That body was identified as Escalante Carrera over the weekend.
