The husband of a Texas realtor who disappeared on October 6 has now been charged with her murder.
An arrest affidavit for Brad Simpson was sealed for 30 days by the judge, so no information is available, KATV reported.
Simpson, who was already behind bars on domestic violence and gun charges, was transported to a Texas Department of Public Safety office shortly after 1:15 p.m. Wednesday for questioning. He was returned to the Bexar County jail about two hours later and charged with murder.
Sources told the station that Suzanne Clark Simpson’s body has not been found, but investigators believe they have enough evidence to proceed with the murder charge.
Clark Simpson, a mother of four, was last seen between 10 and 11 p.m. on October 6 outside the couple’s Olmos Park home, where neighbors reported hearing them arguing and then physically fighting, as CrimeOnline reported. The neighbor said he saw the husband physically restrain his wife to keep her from running away.
Clark Simpson was not seen again.
Simpson was arrested less tan 24 hours later in Kendall County and charged with assault causing bodily injury-family violence and unlawful restraint as authorities launched an extensive search for his missing wife. He was later charged with possessing illegal weapons, along with a friend and business partner, who allegedly hid at least one of the illegal weapons from police.
Olmos Park police say Simpson has been uncooperative throughout the investigation.
The Simpsons’ eldest daughter, 20-year-old Chandler Simpson, accused her father of killing her mother when she tried to leave him.
“My mom was a victim of abuse from my father,” she wrote in an Instagram story, “my father took my mothers life in a state of rage and control.”
She blamed the community for failing her mother and other women in abusive relationships.
“Those who choose to remain silent are choosing to blind themselves from domestic violence in our homes,” she wrote. “My mother tried to leave my father and lost her life.”
“Shame on my community for not speaking about domestic violence.”
The judge on Wednesday added another $2 million to Brad Simpson’s bond, bringing to total to $5 million, KSAT reported.
His brother, Barton Simpson, released a statement saying the new charge was “heartbreaking.”
“But it brings our family soe peace to know that authorities have gathered sufficient evidence to feel confident in moving forward with charges,” he said. “This also helps us to come come to terms with the reality that Suzanne is no longer with us, allowing us to begin a difficult grieving process and focus on rebuilding our lives, especially for the sake of the children and our extended family.”
