A 14-year-old Florida boy pleaded guilty this week to beating and raping a 91-year-old woman earlier this year.
Jesse Stone initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in August, WKMG reported. He is to be sentenced as an adult on December 19.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the victim woke up around midnight on June 9 to find someone sneaking through her home.
“In a cruel act of violence, and was beaten and sexually battered by the suspect,” the sheriff’s office said.
After his arrest, Stone admitted to the crimes in an interview with a detective.
According to WKMG, the victim told detectives that the suspect “pounced” on her and punched her in the face before fleeing the scene. That same day, as detectives investigated, Stone approached detectives canvassing the area and told them a neighbor had “found something” on surveillance video. The detectives reviewed the video and saw a “figure” who appeared similar to the boy.
A week later, Stone was arrested based on DNA evidence and the surveillance video.
