Three people are dead after a driver fled a traffic stop and crashed into a group of pedestrians in Washington state.
The Everett Police Department said the crash happened just inside city limits after police in another jurisdiction outside the city limits had attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver sped off, the department said, and the other jurisdiction did not pursue.
The vehicle crossed into the city on Airport Road, however, and slammed into a five pedestrians outside a convenience store. Three of the bystanders were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two were taken to Providence Hospital.
Firefighters told KOMO the injured victims were two women in their 20s, one with injuries to her back and legs and the other with multiple traumatic injuries. The crash took place shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday.
No other information was released, including whether any arrests were made. Police said they were still investigating.
