Dad Throws Infant Son at Wall After Losing ‘NBA 2K’ Video Game

An 8-month-old boy in Wisconsin is not expected to survive after his father allegedly threw him into a wall last week while playing a video game.

WISN reported that Jalin White, 20, threw the infant into the wall while playing “NBA 2K,” a popular basketball video game. Police said White provided multiple inconsistent explanations regarding his son’s injuries, including claiming the baby’s mother hit his head on a door frame.

White reportedly said the baby fell during a diaper change. At some point, he also stated that he dropped the baby while playing video games, according to WISN.

“The Defendant was down two points in the fourth quarter of the game and became frustrated while holding JW, ultimately throwing JW against the wall,” a criminal complaint detailed.

WTMJ reported that White is unemployed and watched his son while the mother worked.

Medical staff determined White’s son suffered six rib fractures, a skull fracture, and a severe brain injury. WTMJ reported that he is not expected to survive.

White is charged with child abuse and child neglect. However, Milwaukee County Court Commissioner Andrea Bolender said the charges would be upgraded to homicide if the infant dies.

White’s bond was set at $100,000. He has a hearing scheduled for Friday.
