‘Fake News’: Family Disputes Claims That Missing ‘Gossip Girl’ Actress Was Found

The family of missing “Gossip Girl” actress Chanel Banks is disputing California police’s claims that she has been found.

Los Angeles County police told KTLA that Banks was found on Monday in Texas. In turn, they have closed its case and concluded no foul play is involved.

Banks’ cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh, said in a Facebook livestream that it is an unknown woman with Banks’ New York ID card that has been expired for 10 years. Singh said she reviewed Texas police’s bodycam footage of the woman and she looks nothing like her sister.

“TMZ is reporting fake news,” she said on Wednesday. “My cousin has not been found.”

Los Angeles police said they performed four welfare checks at Banks’ home but did not locate her. Meanwhile, her family said they last heard from her on October 30.

Singh told KTLA that she reported her missing after learning her phone was dead and her car and dog were still at her Playa Vista apartment.

Los Angeles County police have not yet publicly responded to Singh’s claims.
