A Texas man accused of shooting his wife 14 times has been released from jail, leaving the victim’s loved ones in fear.
According to News4SA. domestic violence victim Erica Torres has been at University Health in San Antonio for the last five months, following a June incident in which police say her ex-boyfriend shot her over a dozen times as she picked up her daughter at his Laredo home.
The defendant, identified as Billy Delgado, was released on bond without GPS monitoring. The Webb County District Attorney’s Office has filed a motion seeking to impose GPS monitoring, a curfew, and bi-monthly random drug testing on Delgado.
Delgado’s attorney has objected to this motion, resulting in a hearing set for November 25.
If the motion is approved, it would not mandate that he stay in Webb County, but authorities would be able to monitor his location continuously.
Meanwhile, Delgado’s mother said her daughter is living in fear of another attack.
”It’s a little frustrating because he is out and about and my daughter can’t be. There are a lot of things she can’t do. She can’t even be out with her daughters. It’s just not fair,” Edith Terrazas told KGNS
Delgado’s trial has been scheduled for February 2025.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help the family with expenses.
