Police found a man and a child dead inside a Missouri home Sunday night after responding to a domestic violence call in Lawson.
Officers from the Lawson Police Department and Ray County Sheriff’s deputies responded just after 7:30 p.m., KCTV reported. They were told the man in home had assualted a woman there and there was a child in the home.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said the officers identified themselves to the man inside, but he opened fire, striking one of the deputies, who was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released. The officers returned fire and backed off.
Backup arrived from Clay County’s version of SWAT, the Special Tactics and Response (STAR) team, and they entered the home when they heard more gunshots at about 9 p.m.
Once inside, they found the man and a child dead. The woman was not shot.
No namesm ages, or any other information has been released. It’s not known if the officers’ gunfire struck the man.
