A California man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after he allegedly killed his mother and tried to kill his wife before making an attempt on his own life.
The Vallejo Police Department said that Frank James McMillan, 63, stabbed his wife at least once before stabbing himself just after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. When he woke up from surgery, McMillan “spontaneously confessed to killing” his mother.
Police went to the home where he said he committed the murder and forced entry into the home, where they found the woman dead. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
McMillan was arrested while still recovering from surgery and will be transported to the Solano County Jail when he is released from the hospital.
Kaiser Permanente told KTVU that McMillan’s wife was already a patient there when he stabbed her. She is expected to survive.
