The search for a missing Hawaiian woman last seen at the Los Angeles airport.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Hannah Kobayashi, 31, last spoke with her family on November 11, following her missed connecting flight from Maui to New York City at Los Angeles International Airport on November 8.
Larie Pidgeon, Kobayashi’s aunt, said the family grew concerned after receiving strange texts.. In a Tuesday interview, she cited the odd phrases and missing emojis as red flags.
“None of them have a single (emoji). I know that sounds like a small detail, but to us, that’s huge,” Pidgeon said.
“Even though she was in contact with us, she wasn’t in contact with us in her Screenshots showed Kobayashi texting on Novemver 11, “Omw to the airport … I have a safe passage,” and “Matrix style … I’m safe … For the good of all … I will keep you posted.”
Her sister, Sydni Kobayashi, told CNN Monday that Hannah had the same itinerary as an ex-boyfriend. The pair decided to keep their flights since they couldn’t get a refund but would be going their separate ways once they landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
On November 10, a video appeared on YouTube showing Kobayashi at the LeBron XXII Trial Experience, held at a Nike store in the same shopping center. Her sister confirmed Kobayashi also posted a photo from the event on Instagram.
The following day, November 11, Kobayashi’s mother texted her asking if she had reached New York. Kobayashi replied no, and also sent messages to a friend expressing concerns about her safety and someone attempting to steal her identity and funds, according to screenshots shared with CNN by her sister.
The family is coordinating a volunteer search this week near where Kobayashi was last seen. Pidgeon called the Los Angeles volunteer effort to find him “super heartwarming.”
KTLA reports that Pidgeon and relatives traveled to Los Angeles to distribute flyers and actively search for Kobayashi. They’ve also set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of lodging and search efforts.
The family is asking anyone with information on her location to reach out to Pidgeon at 845-750-3006.
