Georgia Mom Gets Life With Parole in Death of Toddler Son Quinton Simon

A Georgia mother convicted of killing her toddler son and dumping his body in a dumpster in 2022 was sentenced on Thursday to life in prison plus 10 years.

Leilani Simon’s attorneys asked the judge to give her a chance at parole, while prosecutors wanted her to go to jail without that possible. After the emotionally charged hearing, WTOC reported, Judge Tammy Stoke opted for the possibility of parole.

Simon was convicted on 19 counts, including malice murder, felony murder, making alse reports, and concealing a death, in October related to the death of 20-month-old Quinton Simon, as CrimeOnline reported.

Quinton vanished from his Chatham County home in October 2022, and more than a month later, authorities found his remains in a nearby landfill. Prosecutors alleged that Leilani killed her son Quinton on the morning of October 5 by assaulting him with an unknown object and disposing of his body in a dumpster near her home,

Simon now has 30 days to appeal the verdict.
