Florida police made short work locating a man who allegedly broke into a woman’s home in Tice early Sunday and stabbed her while she was sleeping.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call at about 1:20 a.m. and deployed a drone to find Bonnier Jose Sarmiento Lanza, 33, just one street away and still carrying the knife, WFTX reported.
The sheriff’s office said Lanza broke into the victim’s home and hit and stabbed her multiple times. He also reportedly hit another person in the home.
It was not a random attack, investigators said, as Lanza and the victim knew one another.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where she was in stable condition.
Lanza was charged with two counts of burglary with battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. No bond has been set, and he is due in court on December 30.
