A Virginia man already in jail on a charge of concealing a dead body was indicted Monday on murder charges after tests on blood found in his home came back a match to his missing wife.
According to WUSA, Naresh Bhatt now faces charges of first degree murder and physically defiling a dead body.
The body of Mamta Kafle Bhatt, a nurse and mom to a toddler daughter, has not been found, but Manassas Park Police Chief Mario Lugo said the DNA test matched blood found in the couple’s bedroom and bathroom with her. Lugo said investigators believe she was killed in bedroom sometime between July 29 and 30 and her body dragged into the bathroom, where, police say, Naresh Bhatt dismembered her body.
“The forensic unit of Prince William County said it was one of the worst crime scenes they’ve seen. That was one statement they made the day that Naresh was arrested,” said Lugo.
Bhatt was arrested on August 22 on the concealment charge, as CrimeOnline reported. He had reported his wife missing on August 5.
Lugo said the blood test results came in last month, but the grand jury did not meet until Monday.
