Nevada Football Coach Charged With Having Sexual Relationship With Underage Student

The head coach of a Nevada high school football team has been arrested on charges related to an inappropriate relationship with a student under the age of 16.

Antwone Washington, 45, was hit with nine felony counts, including child pornography charges, kidnapping, contacting a minor for sex, and sexual seduction, KLAS reported. A judge gave him a $100,000 bail, far less than the $500,000 requested by prosecutors, and ordered him to have no contact with the victim and anyone else under 16 and to stay away from all Clark County School District properties.

A public defender had asked the judge to release Washington on his own recognizance without bail, saying he had no criminal record and claiming there was no evidence of sexual assault, despite the victim being under Nevada’s age of consent.

Washington reportedly confessed to having a sexual relationship with the girl and told police he took multiple inappropriate photos of other girls. He said he has a fetish “that these girls are in his home and that he’s their ‘daddy,'” Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney William Rowles told the court on Wednesday.

According to an arrest report, Washington wrote an “apology” letter.

The report says that police found at least four videos of Washington having sex with the victim. In one, he urinated on the girl. In another, she was bound and gagged and appeared to be passed out while Washington raped her from behind.

Rowles told the court that Washington had told his wife in a jail phone call that he could not do prison time, implying that he would kill himself.

“It’s not a matter of if Mr. Washington is convicted in this matter. It’s not a matter of if he goes to prison,” Rowles said. “It’s only a matter of what he’s convicted of and for how long he goes to prison for.”

Rowles further noted that Washington said he only wanted to be a mentor.

“Judge, is being a mentor urinating on a child?” Rowles asked. “Is being a mentor gagging a child and having sex with her?”

The teen initially declined to identify Washington, citing his wife and children, the arrest report said. She told police the relationship began in early 2024 and said that one of the videos was shot in his office in the boy’s locker room at Valley High School.

Washington told police he was a polygamist and had three girlfriends, his public defender said.

An email sent to Valley High parents from principal Kimberly Perry-Carter said Washington was put “on leave per the negotiated agreement with the employees bargaining unit and will not be allowed on campus.”

KLAS said those agreements usually require that the employee not receive pay. His bio page on the Valley High School website has already been removed.

Washington is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on December 16.
