A North Carolina mother was arrested for punching her 6-week-old baby in the face and leaving the child alone in her car while temperatures dropped to around 40 degree while she worked at McDonald’s.
Nikita Jones, 21, faces one count of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of intentional child abuse resulting in serious physical injury, WRAL reported. The condition of the infant is unknown.
Warrants say the baby was found unrestrained in the backseat of a car in downtown Raleigh on November 21. The car was not running. A day earlier, the documents say, Jones hit the infant in the face, bruising both eyes and causing swelling and a scratch to the face.
Jones was arrested on Monday, According to WNCN, she was given a $55,000 bond and ordered back to court on December 19.
