A teacher at a Florida charter upper level school was found naked inside an elementary school with sex toys and marijuana on Thanksgiving Day.
An arrest report says that Joe Franklin Urias, 34, was arrested after a deputy spotted the naked man running through Windmill Point Elementary School in Port St. Lucie when he shined his flashlight on him, WPTV reported. Urias reported quickly dressed and fled out the rear of the building, where the deputy tried to take him into custody, but he resisted, injuring the deputy.
The deputy called for backup, and Urias was apprehended.
According to the report, Urias — identified as a teacher at Somerset College Preparatory Academy — told police he was homeless. It’s not clear how long he had been in the elementary school, which was closed the entire week for Thanksgiving. Investigators found several personal items in the classroom, including a laptop, food, clothing, sex toys, and less than 20 grams of marijuana. They also found an unlocked window where Urias entered the school.
Urias was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, burglary of an unoccupied structure, marijuana possession, and battery on a police officer. He was booked into the Port Lucie County jail on a $31,000 bond.
Somerset College Preparatory Academy released a statement on Saturday sayng that “a matter recently came to our attention involving allegations, unrelated to our school, against an individual formerly employed at our school.” It did not name Urias or say when he became “formerly employed.
“We have handled this matter administratively and will take all necessary actions to ensure that this individual does not return to our campus,” the school said.
