A Pennsylvania woman who reportedly vanished on Monday after falling into a sinkhole was found dead on Friday.

The search for Elizabeth Pollard, 64, shifted to a recovery mission on Wednesday, two days after she vanished in Union Township. Though it is unclear where exactly Pollard was found, Trooper Steve Limani confirmed to WPXI that her body was located.

Pollard was reportedly looking for her cat when she vanished. Her 5-year-old granddaughter was found in a car 15 to 20 feet from where she disappeared. Officials said they believe the ground gave way below Pollard, not that she walked into an existing sinkhole.

While listening devices did not detect any sound in the sinkhole, cameras reportedly caught a glimpse of a shoe. Officials said the shoe appeared “modern.”

State police said they believe Pollard fell into the site of a former mine and her body rolled 12 feet upon impact. They said they are in the process of putting the dirt back into the sinkhole, in addition to grouting and shoring up the area.
