An Oklahoma man pleaded guilty this week to shooting his parents and sister to death earlier this year and was sentenced to life without parole.
Jacob Mayhugh, 22, said in his plea that he intentionally killed James, Patty, and Shayla Mayhugh in thier Chickasha home on May 10, KOCO reported.
Authorities launched a manhunt for Jacob Mayhugh after finding the family dead in their home on May 11, as CrimeOnline reported. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said it found an AR-15 style rifle lying near the entry in the home. Agents said the serial number on the weapon matched that of one Jacob Mayhugh bought on April 25. He is also alleged to have bought a 9mm pistol at the same time, and that gun was also found inside the home, along with spent shell casings.
Mayhugh was later found in downtown Oklahoma City and arrested.
He reportedly confessed to killing his family members and said that he planned “to commit additional acts of violence,” prosecutors said.
According to KFOR, Mayhugh pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty.
