Police in Colorado arrested a man and woman after finding a 1-year-old baby waaring only a diaper abandoned in Denver.
Deputies from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene around 9:20 a.m. on Christmas Day after receiving a 911 call from a witness who spotted the baby in a car seat abandoned in the median near 7490 Pecos Street in Denver.
A 911 caller stopped to assist the child before alerting police, First responders rushed the infant to an area children’s hospital as a precaution, but found no visible injuries.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office shared photographs of the car seat where the infant was found. A small sign on the seat read: “Display only. Not intended for sale.”
At 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, police arares that they had “been in contact with family members of the infant” and were continuing to investigate the circumstances of the child’s abandonment. The update also noted that authorities would “pursue criminal charges if deemed appropriate.”
Just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, the sheriff’s office posted a second update announcing that the baby’s parents had been found.
CBS News reports that the suspects were identified as Jarvis Sims and Christina Thurman. they were both charged with child abuse charges in connection with the case.
Temperatures that day reached 34 to 37 degrees Fahrenheit.
