Unknown Assailant Shoots Woman on Detroit’s I-94 With 2 Children in Car

A woman was wounded early Thursday morning when an unknown suspect opened fire on her car as she drove on Interstate 94 in Detroit.

Michigan State Police said two children were in the car and were not hit by gunfire, WDIV reported. Family members picked up the children from the scene while the woman was taken to the hospital. Her condition is unknown, but police said she called 911.

Investigators said the woman was struck once, but her car had multiple bullet holes. They also found shell casings on the highway.

“Currently, we don’t know why the driver was shot at and do not have any information on the suspect or suspect vehicle.” said Michgian State Police Lt Mike Shaw. “While detectives are using all the technology available to investigate this shooting, we are asking members of the community who may have information to call either 855.MICH.TIP or Crime Stoppers at 800.SPEAK.UP.”

The highway was temporarily closed for the investigation.
