A family dog apparently preventing a kidnapping Saturday afternoon when a man entered a St. Petersburg backyard and grabbed a toddler’s arm.
Police said the incident happened just afternoon noon when Ron Lee Klein Jr., 36, entered the backyard through a gate and tried to pick up the 2-year-old boy, WFLA reported.
But the family dog was having none of it and confronted the trespasser, which also alerted someone inside the home. That person came running out yelling at Klein, who let go of the child and fled.
Police found Klein in the area and arrested him.
He’s been charged with attempted kidnapping and trespassing and is being held without bond.
Police did not provide any information about the dog and, apparently, local reporters didn’t ask.
