Two Hikers Searching for Bigfoot on Christmas Eve Are Found Dead in Forest

Two Oregon men who vanished while searching for Sasquatch on Christmas Eve were found dead in a Washington state forest on Saturday, officials said.

The men, ages 59 and 37, are believed to have died of exposure at Gifford-Pinchot National Forest in Lewis County. Oregon Public Broadcasting reported that the area the men were hiking through had heavy rain and freezing temperatures which might have contributed to their deaths.

The men, who have not been publicly identified, were found in a heavily wooded area after they were reported missing on Christmas. Skamania County police said they were ill-prepared for the treacherous elements in the area.

KOIN reported that hours after the bodies were discovered, someone stole rescue equipment from the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team. The rescue team, a nonprofit organization that receives no state or federal funding, has raised $12,000 for new equipment since Saturday’s apparent theft.
