The body of a Utah woman reported missing on Thursday was found early Saturday morning, and police say have named her ex-boyfriend as a “person of interest” in her murder.
Family members reported 31-year-old Talia Benward missing, KSL reported, and police said they believed at the time she was either dead or being held against her will by the “violent ex-boyfriend,” identified as Nestor Rocha-Aguayo, 24.
A K9 found Benward’s body in a remote area of Tooele County just before 5:30 a.m., KSTU said, and her body was taken to the medical examiner’s office.
Police said she “may have suffered from blunt force trauma to her neck area” and that they were investigating her death as a murder, KSL said.
Police asked anyone with information to contact the Unified Police Department at 801-840-4000 and not confront the “person of interest” themselves.
