On Wednesday, the trial began for a Texas man who allegedly killed his 2-year-old daughter in 2023.
Deontray Flanagan reportedly took Zevaya Flanagan out of daycare in March 2023, then drove to a Walmart where his daughter’s mother worked and attacked her. KHOU reported that during the 45-minute police chase that followed, Deontray Flanagan strangled his daughter while FaceTiming the girl’s mother and grandfather.
Deontay Flanagan is charged with capital murder. According to KHOU, he killed his daughter because her mother wanted to end their relationship and was talking to another man.
“How could you do this to your little girl?” the girl’s mother told KHOU.
The news outlet reported that Deontay Flanagan’s trial is expected to last a week.
