A Wisconsin man sought in the deaths of his girlfriend and two children late last year has been taken into custody after a suspicious person call in the city of Elroy.
A Juneau County deputy responded to the call and made contact with the person, who was identified as Virgil Thew, the New Lisbon Police Department said.
Thew, 47, was wanted after an adult and two children were found dead in a home in New Lisbon on December 30 following a pair of missing person reports, as CrimeOnline reported. The department began the investigation when a juvenile was reported missing and learned in the course of the investigation that a second juvenile was also missing. Later on that day, the three bodies were found at a home in New Lisbon.
The fatalities were later identified as Thew’s 33-year-old girlfriend, Elizabeth Kolba, Kolba’s 12-year-old stepdaughter, and the girl’s 13-year-old friend, WPR reported. All three were shot to death.
Thew was arrested “without incident” in Elroy, about 12 miles from New Lisbon. He faces three counts of first degree murder, according to WEAU.
