Police responded to a Florida home early on January 5 after a 12-year-old girl called 911 to report that her stepfather had stabbed her mother.
An arrest warrant said that Enese Pierre had come home just after 1:30 a.m. and told her daughter good night. A short time later, the girl heard her mother call out for help, saying “He is trying to kill me!” WKMG reported.
The girl went to her mother’s room and found her injured and bleeding. Pierre told her daughter to call 911. She left the room and when she returned, she said she saw her stepfather, Makinson Devalcin, get up and grab a knife, saying, “No one messes with me.”
A friend of Pierre’s was also in the house at the time and heard the yelling. She told police she headed toward the master bedroom, where she saw Pierre bleeding on the bed, but as she arrived, Devalcin shoved her back and told her no.
Deputies found Pierre stabbed in the neck in a bedroom on the second floor. She was dead on the scene. They found Devalcin unconscious nearby with a laceration to the neck. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Both the Pierre’s friend and her daughter said that Devalcin had no injuries when they encountered him.
According to Law&Crime, deputies found a bloody knife on the bedroom floor. Investigators said the knife’s sheath was found in a kitchen drawer.
Devalcin was later charged with first degree murder.
