A New Jersey man has been charged with the murder of his wife after her body was found in a dumpster in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Rolando Corte, 42, has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Lucrecia Jadan Sumba, WPVI reported.
Sumba, 39, was reported missing by family members last Thursday, as CrimeOnline reported. The body found in a Coopersburg dumpster — some 80 miles from her home — was identified on Monday, and the medical examiner said Sumba died from “sharp force injuries.”
Union County, New Jersey, prosecutors said they believe Sumba was killed on January 8, the day before she was reported missing, WPVI said. The couple’s son told investigators that his parents were having marital problems, and he said that when he asked his father about his mother’s whereabout, the father told him that “only he and God knows what happened.”
Investigators searched the victim’s home in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and found blood in the kitchen and in the hallway outside the bathroom. Additionally, court documents say, a witness told police that Corte admitted killing Sumba, who was the mother of four children.
Corte is due in court on Thursday.
