Teen Driver Shot Dead by Unknown Shooter Who Pursued Her for Miles

A 17-year-old Utah girl was shot and killed Friday night by an unknown shooter who chased her pickup truck for several miles before pulling alongside and opening fire.

The girl lost control of her vehicle and crashed through a vinyl fence before coming to a stop, KTVX reported. Witnesses called 911, and Iron County sheriff’s deputies and medics responded.

The girl was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at a hospital, KUTV said.

“Between 10:15 PM and 11:00 PM, we urge anyone who may have witnessed a small red pickup truck being closely followed by a dark-colored truck or SUV on Lund Highway between 1600 North and Midvalley Road or heading west on Midvalley Road towards the Three Peaks Campground area to come forward,” the sheriff’s office said.

Police are asking residents and businesses in the area to check surveillance cameras and contact them at at 435-867-7500 or the Cedar Dispatch non-emergency number at 435-586-9445.

The sheriff’s office did not release the identity of the victim.
