An Indianapolis man was arrested on Saturday after he assaulted a 14-year-old boy solely because the kid was on his motorized bike.
Jason Harrell told police he yelled at the boy “about the habitual behavior” of being a kid on a bike but denied shoving and hitting him, WXIN reported, even though the entire episode was caught on video.
In the video, the boy is sitting on his bike on the side of the street by a mailbox when a white van rushes up beside him, the driver screaming expletives at the boy.
“Tell your f****** stupid a** dad to come f******* talk to me,” the man screams from inside the van. “I see you on my g****** street again I”m gonna f*** you up. Get the f**** out of here.”
The driver then guns the van for a few feet and stops, getting out and slamming the door.
“You f****** understand?” he screams. The boy replies, “Yes, siir.”
“Get the f*** off my street,” the driver screams.
He calls the boy a “m**********” as he shoves him into the snow. The boy meekly says, “Sorry” as the screamer appears to punch him.
“I see you on the f****** street again I’m gonna kill you and your dad,” he screams. “You understand? You underf******stand? Get the f*** on this bike and get the f*** out of here! Right f****** now!”
The time stamp on the video is around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday. Police arrived on the scene at 3:40, WXIN reported. The boy’s mother told them that Harrell frequently got upset with kids playing in the neighborhood and this time went too far.
Harrell told police that children riding bikes was “an ongoing issue which plagued the entire neighborhood,” although it’s not clear that anyone besides Harrell had a problem
Harrell was charged with intimidation with threat to commit a forcible felony and two counts of battery resulting in bodily injury.
