Amber Alert: Mom Shot Dead, Dad Abducts 2 Toddlers

California officials issued an Amber Alert on Tuesday for two toddlers after their mother was found shot to death in her home.

The Kings County Sheriff’s Office said it believes Jonathan Alexis Maldonado-Cruz, 23, is responsible for the death of the victim, who was not named, and the abduction of the 2- and 3-year-old girls.

Maldonado-Cruz is believed to be driving a gray 2020 Hyundai Elantra with California license plate #8LZD084. Police said he reportedly left the home at about 1 a.m. Tuesday with the children.

The girls are identified as Arya and Alana Maldonado. Arya, the 3-year-old, is descried as 3 feet tall and 25 pounds with brown hair and eyes. Alana is 2 feet 5 inches tall and 20 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

Maldonado-Cruz is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 215 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he is considered “armed and dangerous.”
