The stepson said Joseph was actiing strangely, and he kept his distance until deputies arrived.
Peavy was pronounced dead at the scene, and Joseph was taken into custody. Police did not say if the hammer Joseph was holding was used in the murder. The medical examiner will make that determination.
Deputies said Peavy, Joseph, and at least two other adults lived at the home. They are conducting interviews to determine what happened.
