Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Little Girl, Walking Alone on Dallas Street

A young Texas child, wandering alone on a 6-lane highway late Sunday night, was struck and killed by a passing motorist.

Dallas Police said a white, mid-sized SUV hit the little girl, who appeared to be around 6-years-old, KDFW reported. The driver pulled into a nearby parking lot and seemed to circle back toward the child they’d just critically injured, but then sped away.

Presumably that information came from surveillance cameras, which police said they were checking. They made no mention of witnesses.

Police said they believe the little girl wandered out of a nearby apartment. The collision happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Belt Line Road.

The girl was taken to Children’s Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Police have not said if they have identified the child.
