A Kansas man has been arrested in the beating deaths of his mother and another woman on Sunday.
Rosalinda Reyna, 64, and Martha Velasquez Reyna, 84, were found dead in the driveway of a Salina home when police were called for a domestic disturbance, The Salina Source reported.
The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma.
Preston James Reyna, 35, was arrested a few blocks from the scene without incident. He has been charged with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated kidnapping, two counts of domestic violence battery, and domestic violence damage to property.
He also faces unrelated charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and interference with a law enforcement officer.
Reyna had previously served nearly a decade in prison after pleading guilty to unintentional second degree murder in the death of Nicolas Chavez Castro. According to the Hays Post, Reyna beat Castro to death with a board because he mistakenly believed he had kidnapped and raped his mother, Rosalinda Reyna, who testified at the trial that she had been trying to get her son help for mental health issues on the day of the murder.
Reyna was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia.
