A Florida man has been arrested for shooting and killing another man who was riding an ATV in a Winter Garden apartment complex.
Winter Garden Police said the shooting appeared to stem from an “ongoing dispute” about people riding motorcycles in the complex, WESH reported. Ralph Francis Hensel, 57, apparently decided to take the dispute to the next level and shot Ja’Keem DeShun Williams, 32, as he rode what police called a “four-wheel motorcycle.”
Police were called to the scene and found Williams, with a gunshot wound, lying on the ground next to his ATV. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Hensel has been charged with first degree murder.
Police said there have been complaints from residents in the complex about motorcycles but did not say how many complaints, from how many different residents, or whether police have been called in the disputes, WKMG reported. They also did not say how the final conflict led to a fatal shooting, and it’s not known if Hensel had any other interactions with Williams.
A police spokesman said Hensel was identified quickly as the suspect.
“Investigators were able to identify him as the suspect based on evidence obtained during the investigation, witness statements, and statements made on scene by the suspect himself,” Capt. Scott Allen said.
Aerial footage appeared to show the complex was a neighborhood of apparent duplexes.
