Washington State Man With Restraining Order Kills Estranged Wife With 3 Minor Kids in the House

A Washington state man has been charged with killing his estranged wife hours after a restraining order was filed against him and while the couple’s three children were inside the home.

Kitsap County deputies found the suspect, whose name has not been released, a short distance away from the crime scene after he crashed his car, KING reported.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kevin McCarty said the suspect “resisted arrest” when he was found.

The murder happened at about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, deputies said. The three children were not physically harmed, and police have not said how the wife died. One of the children called 911, police said. All of the children are minors.

Court records indicate that a petition for dissolution of the marriage was filed on Tuesday, and the restraining order came a day later.

“In any situation like this, the kids are going to be handled very delicately and they will be interviewed for whatever information they can provide,” added McCarty.

The suspect is due in court later Friday.
