Shooting Car Chase Leads Deputies to Dead Suspect, Homicide Victim in Home

A wild incident in western Ohio Thursday afternoon ended with a car crash and two deaths, one a shooting suspect and the other a woman found dead at his home.

The incident began just before 2:30 p.m. when a 911 call came in to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, northwest of Dayton, from a man saying he’d been shot by a friend who was now chasing him across the county in a vehicle and still shooting at him.

“The suspect rammed the victim’s vehicle multipe times eventually causing both vehicles to crash out into a field,” the sheriff’s office said. “The suspect rolled his SUV multiple times and was ejected from the vehicle.”

He was declared dead by first responders.

The victim was treated on the scene by medics and then life-flighted to Miami Valley Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. His current condition was not provided.

No one else was in either vehicle.

According to WDTN, the victim told police that the suspect shot him when he arrived at the suspect’s home and then began chasing him when he fled.

Deputies said they traced the chase back to the suspect’s home, where the shooting incident began, and found a woman dead at that scene. They did not say how the woman died but said her death was being investigated as a homicide.

Police have not named any of the people involved, but Darke County Sheriff Mark Whittaker told WHIO that the woman was related to the shooting suspect.
