Search Continues for 7-Year-Old Who Fell in NC’s Tar River

Rescuers are conducting a search of the Tar River in Franklin County, North Carolina, for a 7-year-old boy.

The search lasted approximately six hours on Monday, and as the day drew to a close, no sign of the child had been found.

According to family members, the boy was playing outside with other children when he fell into the water.

”I just ask that you all continue to pray … our family’s really asking for prayers,” the child’s cousin  told ABC11. “We know God Is a miracle worker, and we need him right now.”

Multiple agencies, including Franklin County EMS and the Wake Forest Fire Department, are actively responding at the scene Monday night.

Rescue crews are employing helicopters, an underwater drone, dive teams, and other resources in their search efforts.

The area where the child fell is about 12 to 15 feet deep, and the water conditions are currently murky, NC Beat reports.
