Alabama State Trooper Resigns Before Child Porn Arrest

An arrest warrant was filed last month for an Alabama state trooper on child pornography charges, but he wasn’t arrested for four weeks, giving him time to tender his resignation before he was taken into custody.

The arrest warrant was issued for Chad Claybrook, 46, on February 12, WBRC reports. He was arrested on March 10, ten days after he resigned, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said.

According to the arrest warrant, investigators found Claybrook in possession of obscene matter of a person under the age of 17.

The District Attorney’s Office of Talladega County is investigating the case and did not say why Claybrook was allowed to resign before his arrest.

According to WDHN, Claybrook was placed on leave when the investigation began in December, and ALEA began the process of firing him in February but he resigned before they completed that process.

He was given a $7,500 bond and quickly released from jail.
