A Louisiana woman was arrested this week for the murder of her 8-month-old son.
Franklinton Police said that Sterling Rogers was brought to Riverside Medical Center on March 12 with multiple injuries, including both “healing and current broken bones,” WGNO reported. The child was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, where he died five days later.
The infant’s mother, Autumn Hano Harper, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first degree murder. Police said she made a voluntary statement implicating herself in the the boy’s murder.
Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown called the case “absolutely heartbreaking” and lauded his detectives work, according to WDSU.
“This was a tragic event that will have a long-lasting effect on all involved,” he said. “Our prayers go out to the family for the loss of this beautiful child,” Brown said.
Harper is being held in the Washington Parish jail without bond, WVUE said.
