Tennessee police arrested a man on Friday, months after an underage girl reportedly gave birth to his child.
Metropolitan Nashville police said the victim, now 12, said she had one sexual encounter with Raymundo Juan Reyes Cornelio, 19, in May 2024. The girl also claimed she met Cornelio on Facebook.
Police got a search warrant for Cornelio’s Facebook account to obtain his name and phone number. They then learned Cornelio was stopped on March 1 for a window tint violation. The citation reportedly listed his home address.
On the day of his arrest, Cornelio allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl when he was 18. He claimed he believed the girl was 14 at the time, according to police.
The girl reportedly gave birth to Cornelio’s son in February.
Jail records indicated that Cornelio’s bond was set at $75,000. However, he’s ineligible for release due to an ICE detainer.
